After the disaster of the last issue, I wasn’t so excited for the Annual.

I was right to be reluctant. The comic is far too long, the writing doesn’t work for me at all, the layout is hard to follow in a few spots, and the characters are annoying as all hell.

Ever since the Screaming Citadel crossover, this series has really taken a dive in quality.

I’m not a stranger to weirdness in Star Wars comics, but this is just SO weird to the point where I’m sometimes not even sure that I’m reading Star Wars.

I must say I actually thought this annual was okay. Nothing spectacular but not horrible.

I enjoyed the characters pretty well and was happy they made it out okay.

I do agree that this series is too weird some times, and that has indeed been the case since Screaming Citadel.

I would love if Marvel would publish a guide to comics or some other kind of companion to rationalize some of the more eyebrow raising aspects of this and occasionally other series.

I liked it. It felt really Old EU to me.

And I was surprised that the nice couple Aphra befriended didn't end up dead.

I'm definitely missing Kieron Gillen's touch on this series. His departure can be really felt, but it's a small price to pay for the great stuff that we see in the main Star Wars title.

Thought the ending was pretty cool though.
