For light, Luke Skywalker of the original trilogy. Because he started out full of flaws and weaknesses but still had a heart of gold. He had to face his numerous flaws and shortcomings and chose death over corruption. But he rose above his flaws, made mistakes and learned from them, faced faliure and rose stronger and was able to add to the wisdom he gained from his trials and his teachers. He never gave up even when things looked darkest. His ability to love unconditionally and see good in others when they can't see it is also very inspiring and resulted in the Redemption of Darth Vader. What happened with him in TLJ was devastating for me.

For Dark, I will choose Vader all the way. He had a largely believable tragic backstory that explained him. He was ruthless but not cruel or sadistic and he always had good in him. He was a genuinely broken and tortured Soul who never chose his state although he is indeed responsible for his crimes. His Anakin persona is among my second favourites.

I know it's an unpopular opinion, but Rey might be my least favorite character in all of fiction. Her character makes zero sense with her backstory, she doesn't have flaws to overcome, she makes no mistakes to learn from, she doesn't face faliure and is one of the most vitriolic examples of the Mary sue trope.
