It was fine I guess, though I much prefer Thrawn(the first book) much better. I didn't really feel that engaged in the second book. Maybe it's the flashbacks?
The first book really goes in depth into Thrawn's rise in the empire. The second book honestly felt like more of a Vader book.

<p>I myself enjoyed it, though not one of Zahn's better books. I thought it took a while for the main story to get rolling and it ended kind of abruptly. Even the old Thrawn trilogy had a good balance of dialogue and action. Still, this one handled the dynamic between the Anakin and Vader scenes well, plus it was fun to watch Thrawn troll Vader about how he knew he was once Anakin Skywalker. :D</p>
At first it was really confusing, because there were 3 different timelines being told simultaneously.
There was great potential but it was wasted IMO. Thrawn was much better.
