Welcome to Wookieepedia Discussions! We are honored that you would join us.
To make things a little easier for you as a new user, we’ve given you some useful links and tips below to help you understand how Discussions works.
It is required that you read this post in its entirety. It’s not that bad, though; these are just the basics. 😁
The Wiki
You might not know this, but the Star Wars FANDOM community is part of a wiki called Wookieepedia, which contains pages for everything about the franchise.
All of the information we have on a particular subject can be found on its wiki page, so if you have a question, look there!
To find a wiki page, simply search for it.
On the app, that looks like this:
On a browser, it looks like this:
Another great thing about the wiki? Anyone can edit it! There's a dedicated welcome message to anyone who wants to add some new information to our ever-expanding pages.
If you need editing help, check out the Ask an Editor a Question thread. There, you can learn how to edit, and talk with more experienced editors if you need any help.
The Guidelines
The part of the FANDOM that you’re using right now is called Discussions, where we talk about everything relating to the franchise we all know and love.
Each Discussions community has a set of rules called the Guidelines. These are there to ensure that everyone has a good time. Ours are pretty simple, so be sure to read them!
The rules are also posted by themselves on this wiki page.
Post/Reply Editing
As you’ve probably already noticed, you can create posts and replies in Discussions. But what you may not know is that you can edit them!
If you ever want to edit a post/reply, you can do so by tapping the three dots on the right of whatever you typed.
For posts, it looks like this:
And for replies, it looks like this:
Editing will allow you to add more to your comment/post, so you won’t have to double-post. You can’t edit after 24 hours, though, so if you want to add something, be quick!
Article Tags and Categories
Article tags allow you to directly tag your post with a wiki article.
Say, for example, you made a post about Luke Skywalker. You could then add the tag “Luke Skywalker” to your post. Then, when you go on the Luke Skywalker wiki page, you can find posts related to him (including your post!).
When you make a post, you’ll also have 10 different categories you can put it in. Learning how to correctly use these categories will make your stay much more enjoyable.
Check out the link below for a description of each category:
Asking for Help
The forum can be a confusing place at times, so if you ever have any questions or suggestions, be sure to ask!
For any questions/suggestions about the forum, ask in the Ask a Mod a Question thread, located here:
If you’re having any bugs/issues, there’s a thread for that! Tell your fellow users in the Community Help thread, and they’ll try to offer solutions until it is fixed. The thread is located here:
If you ever have to message FANDOM directly, you can use Special:Contact or email them at community@fandom.com
[ThreadHub]
Looking for a specific post? One of the best ways to do so is with the [ThreadHub] Discussions Index. You can find many of the links provided above as well as Official Threads for discussing new releases, etc. You can even find this welcome post! Bookmark the Master Hub any way you can and use it to find just about any important post we have:
And that’s it! If you have any questions about what was listed here, ask in the comments. And once again, welcome! We hope you enjoy your stay!
