The soundtrack for The Rise of Skywalker was officially posted on YouTube today.

I haven't listened to all of it yet, but I think it's best to put up a separate discussion for the music junkies.

We can discuss the content of the music only, not the film.

I can say I enjoy what I'm hearing so far.

But as a last precaution, there could be spoilers. John Williams's work tends to carry a lot of meaning to it, so maybe you don't want to even look at the titles for the tracks.

It's your final warning. You might want to go into the film fresh.

I haven’t listened to the whole score, but from what I did listen to I was not as impressed as I have been for the previous two movies.

Not to say I’m disappointed, because I’m not, I just think I prefer the score for TFA & TLJ over it. However, that all could change when I actually listen to it paired with the movie on screen.

Yes, I just finished listening to the whole thing. I need to connect it with the film (which I have yet to see) now to fully understand its meaning.

By far my favorite track of the Rise of Skywalker and all of the sequel trilogy for that matter, is Farewell. When I heard it in the theater, I loved it because I notice that it combined both Kylo's theme with Rey's, and now that I think about it, Kylo's theme is basically the First Order's theme, and when it comes into contact with Rey's in Farewell, it is lost in her theme, in a way.

The part I am referring to begins at 1:00, and rises until at 1:30, it disperses. What we hear after sounds like the First Order theme is strained and in turmoil, until it finally finds finality and relief, at 2:29, in Rey's theme, mirroring what we see on screen.

When I saw that no one really actually said anything in this discussion, I thought I'd share my thoughts, even though this thread is vacant. I see the potential this post could have had, should have had. I love soundtracks, and Star Wars's is absolutely amazing, so I would have liked to see more activity here because of that.
