Hey people. I wanted to have a discussion about midichlorian counts. I am trying to come up with a most accurate source. Whatever I say here don't take it for granted, I am just trying to use my imagination as best as possible. I haven't read any star wars books, I just watch and read a lot online whenever I have a curiosity to satisfy.
It has been said that Anakin Skywalker had a midichlorian count "over 20 000". This can be interpreted in many ways. I have seen posts stating his exact midichlorian count was around 27 000, again I know this is all made up, but let's just hypothesize.
When Obi wan went to check Anakin's midichlorian count, he said "it was off the chart" and that even Master Yoda didn't have a count that high. So what does this mean <off the chart>. According to canon the most midichlorians in a single life form ever found was perhaps 20 000. That would imply that the life form would have been tested or maybe that's the highest they ever found, it does not necessarily mean it is the maximum a life form can reach, only that the officials or the Jedi labelled a maximum theoretical number following the research they conducted and found it unlikely a higher count could ever exist or simply it would be far too rare to even bother labeling.
What we do know is that Anakin had the potential to be twice as powerful than palpatine, so we can assume he had roughly twice the midichlorian count than palpatine. In the Phantom menace we get a graphical image of Anakin's count when Obi wan ran the scan through the computer. What we see is one bubble expanding over another. It's just plain logical that the smaller bubble would have been the "20 000" chart limit and that the bigger bubble, which was nearly twice as large, to be Anakin's midichlorian count. I know the movie has nothing to do with canon and it would simply be to improbable for Anakin to have a count higher than 30 000, which I believe only the Mortis God's had, as well it would make palpatine have a count of at least 15 000, close to Yoda's, which again I don't think is possible.
This may sound stupid, but if we pay attention to the actual words used, as in "over 20k" instead of "well over", I think the prior is used, in numeral sense to be slightly above said number in comparison to George Lucas saying " well over " which would mean significantly higher than 20 000.
Using this logic we can estimate that "over" would imply as much as a few hundred numerals up to several thousand, 25 000 to be precise if we imagine 30 000 being the maximum, given that we know the following:
The most midichlorians "per cell" a non force user would have is 2500. Everything above would be mild to highly sensitive. To be considered training as anything Jedi related the bare minimum count an individual would need to have is 5000, knowing that the average Jedi would have a 10 000 count. Average would imply that there are above average Jedi and under average. I know on Wikipedia it says "4 or more times higher than the average to be able to wield the force as a Jedi, but it doesn't seem right that someone half the potential of an average (most) Jedi couldn't become one, if not a Jedi temple Guard. Midichlorian count does not limit the connection you could have with the force, just how fast and easy you can use it. Technically someone with a 5000 count could reach the full potential of even Anakin Skywalker, only it would take a hell lot of time and training to achieve it.
To my understanding I see most Jedi having between 7000 - 10 000 midichlorians "per cell" and those more powerful between 10 000 - 15 000. Above 15 000 would be Yoda's level and so far we have no confirmation anyone in the Jedi order other than Yoda and the chosen one had such a count. I placed quotation marks for per cell because the bigger the life form the more cells it has. Yoda is 1/3 the size of a human. I can not speculate if his species simply has more cells or maybe George Lucas didn't really think about it enough or didn't care or maybe midicihlorian count tests were something in the line of testing a blood sample and multiplying it to add up to for example Anakin's count to be over 20 000 in total, every cell in his body combined. That's why I made this post, to hear all of your opinions.
We also know from various sources that Palpatine was more powerful midichlorian wise than the average Jedi so he would at least have 10 500 midi per cells, given that a few hundred midichlorians above 20 000, even though possible but not likely, would have been the minimum probability of Anakin's midichlorian count (21 000), otherwise they would have said "around or just 20 000". I think in the books or comics Darth Plageius mentioned how strong a force connection Palpatine had, and that was near his own, but again don't take me from granted on that. I honestly think Palpatine became as powerful not because of his midichlorians, more because he was just a psychopath and character, genetics, perception does influence a person's force connection as well. He also had the accumulated knowledge of all the sith following from at least Darth Bane's era. So I am going to throw an assumption of 10k - 15k for him.
If he had joined the Jedi order instead of the sith, I do believe he would have become the second most powerful Jedi during that time, but definately at least on the level of count Dooku or Mace Windu in their prime.
As for Yoda's count, it would have been in the 15 000 - 20 000 range, but not 15 000 or 20 000, knowing that it was said for Yoda to be exceptionally force sensitive and one of the only one in his entire life span of over 850 years in the Jedi order to have such a count and 20 000 being the chart limit and automatically to high. Between 16 000 - 19 000 seems probable, however my gut feeling tells me it is the lower number rather than the higher. Above 16 000 or 17 000. Why I think this you might ask? It's because Yoda does not have to have a near 20 000 count. He is powerful enough with his age and experience and even with that Darth Sidious matched him in force abilities and he has a lower potential than Yoda. If he had a count higher than 18 000 with being nearly 900 years old he would have been more powerful than what we have read about. He spent most of his life training Jedi, he was not so focused upon developing his abilities, but again he has to have a count higher than any Jedi before and 16 000 + seems enough for it.
Let's say Anakin had a midichlorian count of 25 000, which would make Palpatine's 12 500. If we place Yoda's count in the middle of the two we get 18 750. Yoda has to have a count minimum of 15 000 and at least 115% the potential of Palpatine. That is 16 250, which would make him 65% the potential of Anakin. It seems realistic for Yoda to be around ⅔ of Anakin's potential. If Anakin had a 27 000 count Yoda would have a maximum of 20250 (25% less than 27 000) which is off the chart. I also tried playing with 65% - 85% ratios for Yoda and Palpatine but there were just to many numbers for me to post.
Obi-wan and Qui Gon did not have a high force potential, even perhaps under average. Around 9000 or 10 000 I would assume.
Yaddle I know had a count higher than most, because she is the same species as Yoda which are known to birth highly force sensitives.
Darth Plagueis was the child of two average force sensitives which made him above average.
Count Dooku was the second most powerful and skilled Jedi in the order before he left, third being Mace Windu, the rest of the council following after.
For the rest of the Jedi, I have no idea what their midichlorian counts could be, but I am certain there are people here who know some cannon details to help me fill the list as much as possible.
I am not going to give any evidence for my claims, it's all in the books and comics, all that I have written is just my opinion. I am just an amateur writing stuff for fun. Either way everyone is free to fill in the missing details.
This is an example.
Anakin Skywalker 24 760
Luke Skywalker 24 760
Yoda 16 900
Yaddle 13 817
Darth Plagueis 13 432
Palpatine 12 386
Count Dooku 12 075
Mace Windu 11 802
Qui Gon Jinn 10 115
Obi - Wan Kenobi 9738
Power levels of notable force users
It was stated Darth Vader was 80% the power of Palpatine during ROTJ. But what about Darth Plageius, Count Dooku, Darth Maul, Asajj Ventress, Mace Windu, Ki-Adi-Mundi, Shaak Tii, Yaddle, Yoda, Anakin Skywalker, Kit Fisto or expanded characters like Galen Merik.
For comparison sake let's say Palpatine's power level in ROTJ was 200%, Vader who was 80% of his power would make him 160%. I do believe Darth Plageius would as well be around 80% of ROTJ Darth Sidious, and maybe perhaps during the clone wars Palpatine was 15% - 20% less powerful, so same as 45 year old Vader. During Palpatine's duel with Yoda he was able to match his speed and force powers, so Yoda should be around that percent as well and Count Dooku then Mace Windu being the following more powerful force users under them. What do you guys think. You can make your own chart of power levels I will give one as an example.
300% Grandmaster Luke Skywalker (Age 50)
200% Darth Sidious (Age 90)
180% Grandmaster Yoda (Age 860)
178% Senator Palpatine (Age 60)
160% Darth Vader (Age 45)
157% Darth Plageius (Age 88 - 115)
133% Darth Tyrannis (Age 83)
120% Mace Windu (Clone Wars : Age 40)
119% Anakin Skywalker (Age 22)
117% Galen Merik (Age 17)
112% Master Dooku (Age 50)
110% Ki-Adi-Mundi (Age 73)
107% Darth Maul (Age 20)
105% Yaddle (Age 483)
100% Kit Fisto (Age ???)
99% Shaak Tii (Age 40)
95% Asajj Ventress (Age 32)
All the lists I have written are just a speculation, I am not claiming anything.
