Basically until a few years ago I didnt know the difference between canon and legends, and I've only really started expanding my knowledge on that timeline within the last year, my impressions are good but what I hear is that legends is poorly constructed, bad plots and doesn't make sense. So my question is should I actually start reading up on it from comics or novels, or is that just a waste of time?

I am aware, I did a quick search on comixology and... I don't have that kind of spare money lying around, but I know that there are a lot of different authors, and a lot of legends comics are insignificant. I would be going for some of the more common stories like the yuuzhan vong invasion and such. Just wondering if they're as bad as I've heard or if I should invest some money into the books and or comics.

I have not read eny legends comics but you can watch the tv sereses free on youtube and the holiday special because they are legends
It’s definitely worth it. I’ve been in your shoes and was very hesitant to get into Legends for the same reasons. Now I wish I had started the expanded universe years ago.
@Robo fin If one wishes to give advice on Legends, one must study all it's aspects.

Ok, legends is not bad plot. Would recommend reading the yuuzhan vong war books. The first one is vector prime.

I haven't actually read those real Legends like Yuzzahn Vong and Legacy, but I can say the short comics that happen in the timeline that is common to Legends and Canon are mostly good.
If you do, don’t jump in. Slowly dip your toe in the pool and see if it’s for you.
Almost every legends fan will tell newcomers to start with Heir to the Empire, and while that’s not a bad place to start, I would personally recommend starting with a standalone story such as Kenobi. It’s a well-written book, gives you a glimpse of how authors expand on the mythos in the movies, and acts as a nice companion piece to ROTS.
In my opinion, the Legends Post-ATOTC to ANH (basically the Clone Wars through the Dark Times era) have the consistently best, most coherent stories, whereas post-ROTJ is a mixed bag of some truly phenomenal works (Luke Skywalker and the Shadows of Mindor) and some long, frustrating deviations from what Star Wars is intended to be (New Jedi Order series).
But you know yourself better than I do. You may want to start in the post-ROTJ era if you really dislike it in Canon, as many Sequel trilogy detractors insist this pretty saturated era in legends storytelling is superior to Canon in almost every way.
