I was watching the new trailer about the Bad Batch and ended up with trying to figure out if the things I liked about the Last Jedi outnumbered those I disliked. I respect your feelings about the movie.
So, while searching opinions and whatnot, I noticed this pattern I mentioned. A user wrote this in Quora:
“When fans attempt to call out legitimate criticisms with the recent Star Wars films, most notably The Last Jedi, they are met with accusations that they are sexists, racists, or infuriated that some fan theory or head canon didn't get fulfilled. In short, they're labeled toxic.”
And I share that perception.
“Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker Allowed Toxic Fandom to Win - With the release of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, it's evident that Disney and Lucasfilm caved to the toxic fandom's demands.”

“Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker was designed to be the opposite of The Last Jedi - J.J. Abrams heard toxic fans’ complaints. And now he’s trying to distance himself from them — and Rian Johnson.“
I think the media is just generalising and labelling us as fans, and reducing even our reasonable complaints as toxic in cases when such an interpretation is unfounded.
They just liked the diverse cast (which isn’t among my complaints) of the film and now defend every single aspect of the film rather than praising the good and criticising the bad; they don’t care about Star Wars, they don’t see that trolls and actual toxic fans are a minority, they just care about their agenda.
