Depends on the country and how strict said country adheres to Islam because, depending on how fanatic they are, movies can be considered haram. Turkey is a more secular Islamic country which is why they have a booming film industry whereas Saudi Arabia, a more religious nation, has a law banning movie theaters.

I remember hearing that Sadaam Husseins gaurd had Darth Vader style helmets in the War in Iraq.

^Thats the Fedayeen you are referring to which was an irregular Ba’athist paramilitary organization under the command of Saddam’s son Uday Hussein.

Uday was a particularly psychotic s.o.b. who essentially used the Fedayeen as his personal bully boys, but their official role was anti smuggling activity.

Apparently Uday was a fan of Star Wars despite the fact that, if I’m not mistaken, the films were banned in Iraq because of its association with the United States.

Honestly Ba’athist Iraq is a fascinating subject to learn about on its own right and I recommend a book by Joseph Sassoon called “Saddam Hussein’s Ba’th Party: Inside an Authoritarian Regime” which was a enlightening read. Also if you’d like to learn more about Uday Hussein, and you have the nerve for it, I recommend you watch the video “Absolute Mad Lads - Uday Hussein” on YouTube. I’d link it here but some of its contents are pretty unsavory.

Perhaps they aren't aware of star wars because many citizens of those countries dont have easy access to tv or movie theaters? You'd probably have to take a representative sample of those countries to really get an idea or not if they are not aware of darth vader or star wars.
