To be fair, Poe Dameron led the Resistance in all of the major fights against the First Order and the Final Order in the Sequel Trilogy, all the while in the cockpit of a vehcile he flew. Including the fight to destroy Starkiller base, a planet with system destroying laser.

^Yeah, Poe Dameron is one of the best sequel charaters. But I vote Han Solo.
