Over the weekend, I decided to build LEGO minifigures of the Sith Lords under Darth Bane’s Rule of Two. During the process, I researched and learned quite a bit about several Sith Lords which I had only been vaguely aware of. It took me a long time, but I can now proudly say that I am finished.
For the four most recent Sith Lords, I just used their official LEGO minifigures. I considered giving Darth Maul a cape to fit in with the other Sith, but ultimately decided that it was unnecessary.
I based Darth Bane’s minifigure off of his appearance in Legends, with the bald head and the black robes. At first, I tried to build a minifigure based on his Sith armor in Canon, but I could not find proper parts for it, and the closest things I could find looked either too goofy, or too inaccurate. The torso and legs come from a spare Darth Sidious minifigure I had, and the tattered cape comes from a dementor. I’m honestly not sure where the head came from. I also added a gold piece to the emitter of his lightsaber.
Darth Zannah’s minifigure was relatively simple to build. Once finding a proper head and hairpiece was out of the way, all I had to do was take an Imperial Pilot minifigure’s torso and legs, add a black cape, and build a double bladed lightsaber. During my research, I found that Darth Zannah is left handed, so I made sure to reflect that in which hand holds her lightsaber.

Darth Cognus was an interesting one. I was fortunate enough to have a spare Saesee Tiin minifigure to get the Iktochi headpiece from, and used a Shadow Guard for the cape, legs, and torso. I think the head formerly belonged to Belatrix Lestrange from the Harry Potter line, but I’m not quite sure. At first, I was going to give her a lightsaber, but upon doing some research, I found that she doesn’t actually use a lightsaber in any official material. While I don’t think it’s unreasonable to assume that she eventually built one and learned how to use it, I decided not to give her one for the sake of accuracy. Instead, I gave her a pair of daggers from the Lord of the Rings line to represent the vibroblades she used in the Darth Bane Trilogy.

Darth Tenebrous was a challenging build, but quite fun to figure out. As it turns out, it is very hard to depict a Bith in LEGO form without a specialized headpiece. The solution I came up with was extending his gas mask to cover his entire face, and adding Egghead (from the Batman line)‘s head extension to the top of his head. Is it perfect? No, but I’m proud that I came up with a solution at all. For the body, I used a mixture of parts from various LEGO lines, including Star Wars (the legs), Ninjago (the torso), and Hidden Side (the shoulder pads). I gave his lightsaber a dark grey hilt to match official artwork.

For Darth Plagueis, I decided that my previous custom minifigure was not up to my standards, so I improved it significantly. Namely, I actually gave him visible eyes, and a better saberstaff. I also gave him a Dracula-style collar, and a life support system/shoulder pad combination around his neck. The collar is just a short cape flipped upside-down, and the shoulder setup is taken from General Cryptor from the Ninjago line. Overall, I think this one might be my best.

While I didn’t end up including them in the final photo, I also made minifigures of Lumaiya, Carnor Jax, and Darth Caedus. While they are important and powerful in their own right, their claim to Darth Bane’s lineage is questionable at best. Lumaiya’s head is an Imperial V-Wing pilot’s, while the torso and legs belonged to Nebula from the Marvel line. The portion of the cape behind her head is an upside-down sand trooper shoulder cape, and the lightwhip is a lightning piece attached to a hook and lightsaber hilt. Carnor Jax is basically just a hybrid between a Shadow Guard and a Praetorian Guard, with a custom weapon. Finally, Darth Caedus uses Han Solo’s hair, General Veers’ face, and an Imperial Gunner’s body, accessorized with a lightsaber, black cape, and armor from the Ninjago line.
And for those of you still reading this, here’s an image I thought you might get a chuckle out of.
