Peter Mayhew

Today would have been the Eightieth Birthday of actor Peter Mayhew. Mayhew portrayed Wookie warrior and pilot Chewbacca in The Orginal Trilogy (1977 - 1983), 2005's "Star Wars Episode III - Revenge Of The Sith" and finally retiring the role of "The Mighty Chewbacca" after completing 2015's "Star Wars Episode VII - The Force Awakens.

Peter died of a heart attack.

It will be for his heart that he'll be remembered, showing up at conventions and greeting the fans who loved him so much and the feeling was mutual.

Thank you, Peter for making a "big walking carpet" a beloved icon.

Today is the fifth anniversary of the death of actor Peter Mayhew. He played the Wookie Chewbacca in The Orginal Trilogy (1977-1983). He also has portrayed "The Mighty Chewbacca" in 2005's Star Wars Episode III- Revenge Of The Sith and in 2015's Star Wars Episode VII- The Force Awakens.

After the film was completed he retired. His successor in the role of the Wookie warrior and pilot is his The Force Awakens double Joonas Sautamo.

He was a man of great height and heart.

He was gentle and loyal as the legendary character that he portrayed.
