CID I SWEAR TO GOD
She’s not even in this season and she’s still screwing everyone over.
After a drop in quality last week, the Bad Batch returns with two of this season’s finest episodes.
Identity Crisis was an unexpected, but enjoyable shift away from the Batch. It boasted some real star power with appearances from Tarkin and Cad Bane, but for me, I really enjoyed the emphasis put on Emerie, and getting some hints about her backstory. It’ll be interesting to see how she fits into the inevitable invasion of Tantiss.
The vault was giving of some major Akira vibes which I really enjoyed.
And congratulations to Beast Boy for making his Star Wars debut.
Point of No Return was the real show stopper though, and a friendly reminder that, in this show, we can’t have nice things. We knew the invasion of Pabu was coming, but I’m really impressed with the execution. The music as the Imperials marched through the town was reminiscent of the score in ROTS when Order 66 is happening, which I thought was a nice touch.
The Batch got absolutely rocked this time around. I totally thought they were going to kill off Hunter when he set out on his own.
And what an ending.
The way I see it, there’s a few options. Either Omega and Emerie will conspire to leak Tantiss’ coordinates to the Clones, and/or Omega will tap into the force and contact someone, presumably Ventress. Maybe she was just meditating, but there was a lot of emphasis out on her closing her eyes and breathing in that last scene, making me think that it’s time for some space magic.
Fantastic episodes. We are, as this kids say, so back.
