I still have some reservations about this movie, which is pretty much season 4 being sent to theaters, but it’s exciting to see Din and Grogu again. Not a fan of the title, but the new design looks sick and evokes a western feel.
This is a pretty stacked cast, so that definitely adds to my anticipation. I know Levy isn’t a groundbreaking filmmaker, but I do trust him to deliver a fun and action packed adventure. We’re also exploring a new era with this movie, so there’s that to be excited for.
If Dathomir is presumably serving as Thrawn’s base of operations, it’s interesting that At Attin is located so close to it. Could be a hint towards the planet’s mint being an asset and tying Skeleton Crew to the larger narrative. Also worth noting that Wayland is in close proximity to both if that aspect from legends is carried over.
I know it’s been said countless time, but this series is definitely one of the best Star Wars projects to date. Everything about it, from the characters and story, is just so nuanced. I still remember when some questioned why Cassian was getting a series to it being widely seen as the new standard. Admittedly, I do fear every project going forward will be unfairly compared to this series. All and all though, bravo to Tony Gilroy and everyone involved for delivering such an incredible story. 10/10 series all around and I’m really gonna miss it.
Cassian definitely has to be one of the most tragic characters. Even after all he’s been through and the personal losses, he stuck with the Rebellion and hoped to one day reunite with Bix. The final shot of her with their child and B2 really got to me. It was touching of him to defend Luthen from the Alliance leaders and try to put some respect to his name. Shoutout to my beloved Raddus for making a comeback lol. Cassian’s friendship with K2 and Melshi was very entertaining, so of course it makes their deaths more heartbreaking. Now K2 got a hallway scene of his own, but I’m not complaining.
This arc beautifully delved into the relationship between Luthen and Kleya. There was some intrigue in where Luthen came from, so to have him be a former army trooper that witnessed the massacre of Kleya’s people was unexpected imo. He could definitely be troublesome and I understand some of Bail’s skepticism towards him, but Luthen was still an integral part of making the Rebellion possible, so rip. I love nearly every character, but Luthen, Cassian, and Mon would have to be my top three. I am peeved that he killed Lonni Jung after everything he did though. Kleya was definitely a highlight of this arc. The fact that this is Elizabeth Dulau’s first major role is an incredible feat and hope this launches a great career for her. After her troublesome upbringing, at least she got to have some peace in the final moments knowing their actions amounted to something.
This arc proved to me just how doomed the Empire always was. Not only would their actions pave the way towards resistance, but they’d fall apart from the inside from the constant scheming and betrayals. Dedra finally discovered Luthen’s network, only for it to have had dire consequences for herself and the Empire through the Death Star being discovered. To wind up in Narkina 5 by the fascist regime she dedicated everything to is certainly karma. Partagaz killing himself after this failure and the realization of the Empire’s fate after Nemik’s recording was broadcast was great. Watching fanatical Imperials get what’s coming to them will always be satisfying. Krennic was a delight as always though. It’s funny to see him presented as the top dog here, only to be pushed around by Tarkin and Vader in Rogue One.
Jedha in the sense that it felt the most haunting. We got to explore the city and its inhabitants beforehand, which added more weight to it’s destruction.
Just when I couldn’t love this show any more, they take it to another level. It’s hard to do a definitive ranking of every arc given how good they’ve all been, but this one is definitely up there. I admit the time jumps have been a little jarring, but I can easily overlook them. The fact that next week is the finale really bums me out, but it’s been one hell of a ride. Easily a 10/10 arc.
I was close to tears when Bix left. One of my biggest fears was her being killed off to push Cassian. After all she’s been through, it just would’ve been cruel, so I’m glad they went another route. Hopefully she gets to live a peaceful life with B2. Poor Cassian can’t catch a break, but K2 can bring him some much needed positivity. A small nitpick I do have is that I wish there was a little more to their first encounter, as it sort of felt like an afterthought imo. Next week could make up for that though.
Mon denouncing the Empire was one of my most anticipated moments and they delivered. I would’ve loved to have seen a recreation of her broadcast forming the Alliance, but the speech we did get was amazing. I love nearly all the characters, but Mon is definitely in the top 3. Now, I’m very curious what happens to her family. I doubt they’ll be killed, but may publicly sever ties to her and live under ISB supervision. Some people may still be up in arms over the Bail recast, but having him totally absent for Mon’s big moment wouldn’t have made sense. I’m glad they got Benjamin Bratt to fill in
We finally got the Ghorman Massacre and it was incredibly suspenseful. All of the buildup from last week really paid off as the ensuing chaos hit even harder. Syril finally broke free of his Imperial fanaticism and realized what the Empire is all about. He had the chance to do some good, but instead chose to confront his “arch nemesis” lmao. Cassian not even remembering him hammered home how pointless it all was for Syril in his final moments, and it was hilariously tragic. I’m curious where Dedra goes after this given how much he actually meant to her. I’m also surprised Luthen and Krennic were absent from the massacre as I figured both were going to have roles to play.
This show is just so damn good. This arc topped last week’s imo, so just imagine how good the next two will be. The slow and suspenseful buildups make the payoffs all the more rewarding. I’d give this arc a 9/10.
Bix has been through the wringer and I just hope everything works out for her, although I’m skeptical given the nature of the show. At least she got her chance to kill Gorst. I think these episodes also laid some seeds for Cassian turning on Luthen. I still think the latter will have some hand in instigating Ghorman.
Mon failing to garner support for Ghorman is upsetting, but will make her denouncing the Empire all the more satisfying. That’s definitely one of my most anticipated moments. There were rumors going around that Bail Organa had been recast due to scheduling conflicts, and they turned out to be true. It’s a little jarring, but Benjamin Bratt is a great choice.
All the development for Ghorman is gonna make next week hit hard. Tarkin’s massacre is canon, so the fact that the planet has undergone two Imperial massacres is crazy. I know Syril is working with the ISB, but I can’t help think he had some sympathies for the rebels and will have a change of heart after witnessing the massacre. Dedra being the one to kill him could explain her panic attack from the trailers.
It’s so good to be back in this corner of the franchise. They already cooked with this arc alone, so imagine what’s to come. Based on the extremely high reviews, we’re in for a very good time. I’d give this arc a solid 9/10, only because I have some minor complaints. I think the editing in the first two episodes could’ve been a little better so we didn’t jump around between scenes as abruptly.
Cassian starts the season stealing the TIE Avenger, which is probably my new favorite variant. Yes, it was a little reminiscent of the Ghost Crew stealing the TIE Defender, but definitely not a carbon copy. The fact that he wound up on Yavin was a nice reveal. The rebels there were a little funny and a nice representation of how unorganized some groups are, but their incompetence got a bit tiring imo.
The Ferrix crew are living as illegals on a farm world. Poor Bix is dealing with some PTSD after the season 1 finale. They were living a nice and quiet life, so of course it had to come crashing down. I knew Brasso was going to die, but it still hurt. They’re gonna come back for B2, right!? There had also been rumors going around regarding THE scene with Bix, so I knew that was coming, but it didn’t make it easier to watch. The fact that they actually said the word surprised me tbh. At least that scumbag Imperial got what he deserved.
My Big Fat Chandrilan Wedding was a lot of fun. It’s nice to finally see a prominent Core World on screen and their customs were very intriguing. This series has done a tremendous job developing Mon and the political foundations of the Alliance. I just want to give poor Mon a hug. I know she’s meant to be in grief, but taking shots and letting loose to space dubstep was kind of funny ngl. Someone on the show has to be a fan of the Rakata because this is the second time they’ve been mentioned. Wonder if we’ll ever see them on screen.
Dedra and Syril have become a top tier couple and the source of comedy for this show. I quite enjoyed seeing the domestic life of a hardened ISB agent and having to deal with her partner’s mother. Dedra putting Eedy in her place was very satisfying. We also get the return of Krennic, who’s tremendous. The debriefing on Ghorman was a nice set up for how significant the events soon to transpire there will be this season.
@Daisy Aipom I like the idea of the series jumping several years with each season. It looks like the first will start shortly after Order 66, but the final could be set just before his debut in Rebels.
There were rumors going around about a Maul series in development, so I guess they were real. Apparently, he’ll have a female Twi’lek apprentice, who some are speculating to be canon Darth Talon, and familiar faces such as Rook Kast and Marrok will be in it. Tbh, I have some mixed feelings about this series.
On one hand, it’s cool we’re getting a series with a definitive villain as the lead. He’ll be building up Crimson Dawn, so chances are we’ll see the return of other syndicates and explore the underworld. Depending on the timeframe, we could even see Qi’ra. It’s also very likely the series will further explore the Sith, which is a definite win for me.
On the other, I don’t know if I want Maul to be the center of the next ongoing animated series. Given how much of his story has already been told, I personally feel he’d work better as a supporting character as part of another story. The basic premise also doesn’t seem entirely sustainable for multiple seasons imo. However, we still know very little about the series, so I’ll definitely keep an open mind.
Elephant in the room, will this get stuck in development hell like some of the other movies they have planned? They’ve already cast a big name actor, have a set release date, and are starting production very soon, so I think we’re hopefully in luck.
This feels intended to be a replacement for Rogue Squadron. Aside from having a rather bland title, I’m pretty excited. A movie dedicated to pilots and space battles is right up my alley, not to mention it being set after Episode 9 and getting to explore to new era.
The fact that they didn’t save this for Celebration is surprising. I’ll be honest, the Tales of the… shows haven’t done much for me except for the Dooku episodes. This one does look interesting though and more underworld content is a win.
It looks like they might be giving Cad Bane a sympathetic backstory? I do wonder if the final episode will be his duel with Boba, which would be the perfect place to finally include that. As for Ventress, I hope there was more to bringing her back than just for a three mini episode arc. My personal hope is they lead into the next ongoing series with Quinlan Vos and the Hidden Path, but we’ll see.
Well this dropped out of the blue. A surprise to be sure, but a welcomed one lol. This trailer definitely upped the stakes and offered a nice tease at some of the heart pounding moments we can expect.
I’ve already seen some suggest Dedra is being force choked, but I’m more inclined to believe it’s a panic attack after Ghorman. She’ll be held accountable by Imperial High Command and may suffer the consequences.
I’m stoked to see Mothma deliver some epic speeches. Looks like we could see her denounce Palpatine within the senate chamber and hopefully even hearing her declaration of the Rebel Alliance aboard the Ghost.
I also get the feeling most of the Ferrix cast will die early on at the Dantooine-looking planet. That could prompt Bix into joining Cassian’s missions and having a more prominent role.
The big focal point will probably be the trailer for The Mandalorian and Grogu. I’m still not sold on having a repurposed fourth season as the first film since episode 9, but I’m keeping an open mind and hope the trailer wows me. There have been some potential leaks going around, so we may learn soon enough whether they’re true or not.
This certainly isn’t a guarantee and I should definitely temper my expectations, but it’s possible they could reveal some surprising news about the other films in development. Shawn Levy’s has reportedly been fast tracked to be the next release, so maybe a synopsis for that one at the very least.
As for the next animated series, I’m still thinking it’ll focus on Ventress. Her episode from The Bad Batch definitely felt like a back door pilot. I would love for them to also announce another series that’s set in a new or largely unexplored era.
As much as I love the animation of The Clone Wars, which has seen major improvements over the years and appears to be Lucasfilm’s default, I’d like to see them branch out and incorporate more distinctive styles. I still haven’t seen Visions, but the series does have a plethora of interesting styles to choose from.
Lots of great footage in here. The big focal point for me is the Ghorman Massacre. Several characters will be present (Cassian, Syril, Dedra, and maybe Krennic). I still think Luthen will have something to do with it, as a necessary push, but it also looks like Syril could have a change of heart after witnessing the chaos.
Cassian will also be involved in extracting Mothma from Coruscant after she denounces Palpatine. That should be a fun pair to watch, and I could even see them conspiring against Luthen if he goes off the deep end. We might even see recreations of her speeches from Rebels.
More K2 footage at long last lol. Either they’re hiding a lot his screen time or he only appears towards the end. I imagine they’ll almost definitely retcon how he met Cassian and was reprogrammed from the one-shot comic, but it’ll be for the better.
It was great to have Ian McDiarmid back and Palpatine was presented as the creepiest he’s ever been imo. However, it’s clear it was a last minute decision that lacked proper build up and hardly held any significant weight. Even the specifics of his return were brushed aside in the film. At the very least, I appreciate extended material going out of their way to try and sort everything out.
I would agree that her tenure at running Lucasfilm has seen mixed results, but the visceral hatred she’s received by many is beyond ridiculous. I’m expecting to find lots of unhinged celebratory reactions on other platforms. Now, I just know that some are going to be clamoring for Dave to be her successor, when that really isn’t good idea.
While the music choice was a little odd, I can totally get past it when the contents that were shown looked real good. I’m just happy to finally have an official trailer lol. As we get closer to Rogue One and the potential of witnessing events like the Ghorman Massacre, things may get darker than before. K2 and Krennic for the win.
Korkie, solely to debunk the constant Obi-Wan and Satine theories.
