“Shreek calls for aid!”
“And Aragorn will answer!”
Lol 😜
So good to hear from you, bro 😎 How are you?
Rather than giving you a step-by-step guide to how I do things, I will reflect off of your own points and how I deal with these three key ingredients in the writing process…
Inspiration takes many different forms and I usually make a long list of ideas which I’ll whittle down over a long course of time… I’ll let you in on a secret: for me, it’s the exact opposite 😂 Writing about fictional universes was easy but as someone writing a history book… all the note-taking, fact-checking and archive searching 😵💫 Bro, going from fiction to fact is jumping out of the frying pan and into the fire 😅 Coming back to my point; real history is where my inspiration comes from and that’s because I reached a point with Star Wars where I realised: everything I love about Star Wars and want to see in Star Wars… actually HAPPENED!
Allow me to congratulate you on this one; the information you displayed in your works never, ever gave off the impression of being “off the top” of your head 👏👏👏 For me, I’m a vigorous reader, so, like you, I store up reserves of general knowledge which can cover a lot of gaps… but I’ve also found, writing this book, that that’s not quite enough. You have to dig deeper, read more books and browse more archives. It’s a long, hard struggle that sometimes makes you want to pull your hair out, but the hard work that you put in does, eventually, yield results.
Coffee ☕️😜
@Diamond O'Connel Oh, don’t get me started on coursework 😒 I still have nightmares 😂 Well done you, though, pleased for you 🥳👍
My book is about the last tsar of Russia when he took command of the army during WW1.
(P.S.) To prevent this post from getting locked as unrelated to Star Wars, I’ve always thought that the Kryze Clan was the Star Wars equivalent of the Mandalorians, even though Mandalore remained neutral during the Clone Wars.
@Diamond O'Connel I understand, my dear old friend. Man proposes, God disposes. I’ve been working my socks off on my book and just haven’t had the time to catch up with you guys. Also, I’ve been none too impressed with the latest Star Wars content 😏😒
How are you?
Thanks, really appreciate that 😊🙏
May the Force be eternally with you, Darth Mufasa- Riddler of Steel & King of Zamunda 🙏💔☦️
You will be greatly missed 😔
The last time I spoke to her she was dividing her time between family, school and the Wook.
Glad to hear it. Appreciate the explanation.
The moderators have always been and will always be the glue that holds this place together, so anything that affects them will affect us. Glad it’s all settled. I was a lot more active five and half years ago than I am now and didn’t know about it then, so pardon my ignorance.
Wasn’t aware that I was “demanding” anything, simply enquiring after an event that I’ve only recently become aware of through the use of an extremely negative term.
Apologies if it came across that way.
“Purge” is a word people usually associate with Bolshevik execution squads, so it’s quite alarming to hear people throwing it around about our own moderators. I’m a member of this community, so I’d think that entitles me to at least a well-mannered summary.
I did but it does not tell me who was purged and why it was decided that a purge was the best solution to this issue.
I asked a question: what purge?
Purge? What happened? Is everybody ok?
Parrying dagger? Wow, we’re really taking Star Wars back in time 😅 I wonder what a Star Wars version of that would look like…
I would always press for a guard made of pure beskar.
Kathleen says it never happened.
And I seem to remember Ahsoka using something similar. A long sabre and a shorter one. S3, I think… Do you mean like Yoda’s or something different?
I don’t follow Dune that much but I know they do knife fights, which poses an interesting question… Lightsaber daggers?
Maharajah @Shreekomandar is cordially summoned by the Grand Duke of Pantora.
Calling the High Exalted Maharajah of Mandalore...
Have unearthed a bit of a revelation about our loathed "pointy sticks".
During the Great War, the Russian Imperial Army added a guard to the shashka:
Although the guardless kind was still used by many Cossacks, all
officers were expected to carry the guarded kind. Keeping things
on topic, this is the most similar weapon design I can find in Star Wars:
Carried by my nation's sworn guardsmen and used in combat on Orto Plutonia.
What are your thoughts? Has the dreaded pointy stick finally redeemed itself?
