Aaron was a planet located within the Aaron system of the Outer Rim Territories. It was home to a facility operated by the Fromm Gang, a crime family headquartered on the planet Annoo. The multi-level facility was involved in mining, research, and other activities. The droids C-3PO and R2-D2 were imprisoned in the complex, but they escaped and made their way to a higher story, where Thall Joben and Jord Dusat rescued them.

History

Aaron was located in the eponymously named system of the Tharin sector, in the north-eastern quadrant of the Outer Rim Territories. Discovered by the Galactic Republic between the Kymoodon Era and the Rianatus Period, the world was located in Hutt Space circa 25,000 BBY. During the New Sith Wars the planet was aligned with the Brotherhood of Darkness, remaining under control of the Sith until their defeat at the Seventh Battle of Ruusan.Expression error: Unexpected > operator.

During the Clone Wars, the space around Aaron was contested by the Republic and the Confederacy of Independent Systems, joining the Galactic Empire at the end of the war. As hutt Space was pushed back, Aaron fell under control of the Imperial Senate.Expression error: Unexpected > operator.

Also located in the Tharin sector was the planet Annoo,[1] which was the headquarters of the Fromm Gang, a crime family run by the corpulent Annoo-dat Blue Sise Fromm. The Fromm Gang operated during the early years of the Galactic Empire, circa 15 BBY,[2] and they established an eight-level facility on Aaron. There, they engaged in mining, manufacturing, and research.[3]

During this period, the Fromm Gang captured the droids C-3PO and R2-D2, imprisoning them deep within their Aaron facility.[3] The two droids, a protocol and astromech droid respectively, were at this time owned by the Human Thall Joben, an inhabitant of Ingo who had numerous hostile encounters with the Fromm Gang.[2] The droids managed to escape from their cell, ascending eight levels of the facility and evading capture from numerous Fromm Tower Droids and other droid workers. Once out of the facility, they found Joben and his friend Jord Dusat waiting to rescue them from the planet.[3]

Annexed by the Imperial Remnant during the Imperial Civil War, the world was subjugated by the Yuuzhan Vong during their invasion of the galaxy. As of 137 ABy, Aaron was a member world of Darth Krayt's Galactic Empire.Expression error: Unexpected > operator.

Inhabitants

The Fromm Gang facility on Aaron was staffed by a variety of droids. These included Fromm Tower droids, guard droids, seekers, and a number of other models of both repulsorlift and bipedal designs.[3]

Locations

The Fromm Gang facility on Aaron contained at least eight levels, each allocated to a different purpose. The bottommost floor operated as a prison, while built on top of this were mining, factory, and research levels. These were followed by a story allocated to domestic purposes, communication, security, and finally control. The levels were separated by elevators activated by entering the correct sequence of colored keys. Also installed at various points on the ceilings of these levels were gun emplacements.[3]

Behind the scenes

"Congratulations! You escaped from the Fromm Gang! Jord and Thall are now waiting to rescue you from this planet."
―The message on successful completion of Droids: Escape from Aaron[src]

Aaron is the setting for the Droids: Escape from Aaron video game released in 1988 for the ZX Spectrum, Amstrad CPC, Atari ST, and Commodore 64 platforms. The "Aaron" in the title was not explicitly identified as a planet in the game—which had little plot overall—although it was implied by the game's concluding text. Aaron was later referenced in The Essential Atlas and its online companion, which created the Aaron system.
