- Han Solo is rescued from Jabba the Hutt. During the rescue, Leia Organa kills the Hutt crime lord aboard his own sail barge.[2]
- Having kept the promise he made to Master Yoda, Luke Skywalker returned to Dagobah to complete his Jedi training, but Yoda dies of old age before he could do so. Before dying, Yoda told Luke that he must confront Darth Vader to become a Jedi Knight.[2]
- Gallius Rax promoted to the rank of admiral.[8]
- The Galactic Empire began its fragmentation[3] after the first death of Galactic Emperor Sheev Palpatine over Endor. The Battle of Endor also sees the destruction of the DS-2 Death Star II Mobile Battle Station and redemption of Vader, becoming Anakin Skywalker once more after returning to the light side and betraying Palpatine.[2]
- Luke Skywalker holds a funeral on Endor to honor his father.[2]
- A riot breaks out in Monument Plaza, beginning the Coruscant civil war.[3]
- A power vacuum opens up on Tatooine as a result of the death of Jabba[3] and withdrawal of the Imperial Army. The Mining Collective seeks to take advantage of the vacuum and occupies Mos Pelgo, though they are soon single-handledly defeated by[9] Sheriff[3] Cobb Vanth.[9]
- Mas Amedda acted as Emperor in all but name and politics, while holding little real influence beyond Coruscant.[1]
- The Alliance to Restore the Republic is reorganized into the New Republic.[3]
- As part of his Contingency plan, the Empire follow Palpatine's last order via Operation: Cinder.[10]
- Mon Mothma is elected the first Chancellor of the New Republic.[3]
- The Galactic Senate is restored on Chandrila.[3]
- Iden Versio and Del Meeko defect from the Galactic Empire and join the Rebel Alliance/New Republic.[11]
- With the help of Lieutenant Shara Bey and R2-D2, Jedi Knight Luke Skywalker travels to Vetine to retrieve the remnants of two Great Trees that were stolen from the Jedi Temple on Coruscant by Darth Sidious.[12]
