The 87th Sentinel Corps was an infantry corps in the Grand Army of the Republic during the Clone Wars between the Galactic Republic and the Confederacy of Independent Systems.[1] As a corps in the Republic Military, the 87th Sentinel Corps consisted of 36,864 troopers divided into sixteen regiments.[2]

Its soldiers were distinguished from other units by the various combinations of maroon markings on their white Phase II clone trooper armor. The 87th Sentinel Corps was experienced in urban defense tactics, and were often deployed to Republic cities that were at risk of falling under Separatist control. The unit was made up of standard clone troopers, clone sharpshooters, and clone trooper officers. Respectively, the soldiers of the unit were armed with DC-15A blaster carbines, Valken-38xs, DC-17 hand blasters, though some troopers used DC-15LEs.[1]

Behind the scenesEdit

The 87th Sentinel Corps first appeared in the Star Wars Battlefront II video game published by Electronic Arts in 2017 and were the default clone trooper skin for Naboo[1] but were not identified until an update for the game in February 27, 2019.[3] With the update, the appearance of the 87th clone troopers was also slightly modified in that the red coloring was made slightly darker and different patterns were added.[1]
