The title of this article is conjectural.

Although this article is based on official information from the Star Wars Legends continuity, the actual name of this subject is pure conjecture.

An abandoned castle stood north of Theed,[1] the Human capital city of the Mid Rim planet Naboo.[2] The castle lay next to a body of water, had tan walls, and consisted of spherical structures that had green roofs. The base of the castle contained a studio with an angled roof and a large window, with numerous framed portraits on its walls.[1]

During the Clone Wars between the Galactic Republic and the Confederacy of Independent Systems[2] from 22 BBY to 19 BBY,[3] a reclusive Human Naboo artist lived and worked in the studio painting suns and moons. After encountering Naboo's senator, Padmé Amidala, at a bazaar on the outskirts of Theed, the artist returned to his studio and obsessively painted images of her for twenty-four straight weeks, covering the walls with his portraits. Eventually, the artist had a revelation that Amidala's life was in danger, and returned to Theed to save her life from a Separatist attack.[1]

Behind the scenes[]

The abandoned castle appeared in "The Artist of Naboo," a comic story written and painted by Erik Tiemens and published by Dark Horse Comics in the 2005 anthology Star Wars: Visionaries.[1]

  2. 2.0 2.1 The Essential Atlas
  3. "The Artist of Naboo" was published in Star Wars Legends Epic Collection: The Clone Wars Vol. 1, which states that the stories within it take place between Star Wars: Episode II Attack of the Clones and Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith. The Essential Atlas places the events of these films between 22 and 19 BBY, therefore, "The Artist of Naboo" must take place within these years.
