Abran Balfour was a male Moff of the Galactic Empire whose Star Destroyers often patrolled the Llanic Spice Run in the Llanic system. Balfour represented the Empire the nearest to where the fleet of the Alliance to Restore the Republic was stationed[1] in 0 ABY.[2]

In that year, Princess Leia Organa cautioned fellow Alliance member Luke Skywalker, who was scheduled to travel to the Llanic system, to avoid making Balfour wonder if the Rebel fleet was situated in the sector governed by the Moff. As Skywalker arrived in the system, he immediately came across one of Balfour's Star Destroyers, but it was too far away to engage.[1]

Behind the scenes[]

Abran Balfour was first mentioned in the new Star Wars canon in the 2015 novel Heir to the Jedi, written by Kevin Hearne.[1] He was introduced in the Star Wars Legends continuity in the 1993 supplement to Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game, Galaxy Guide 9: Fragments from the Rim, written by Simon Smith and Eric Trautmann and illustrated by Mike Vilardi.[3]

  1. 1.0 1.1 1.2 1.3 1.4 Heir to the Jedi
  2. In Heir to the Jedi, Luke Skywalker states that he has not heard from Obi-Wan Kenobi since the Battle of Yavin, which Star Wars: Galactic Atlas establishes as the starting point of 0 ABY. Since Skywalker hears from Kenobi in the first issue of the 2015 Star Wars comic series, Heir to the Jedi must take place between the battle and Star Wars 1. Additionally, that comic takes place before the fourth issue of the 2015 Star Wars: Darth Vader comic series, the events of which are dated to 0 ABY by Galactic Atlas. Therefore, Heir to the Jedi must also take place in 0 ABY.
