Abregado-rae,[3] also known simply as Abregado[5] and sometimes spelled Abregado-Rae, was a trade world[6] located in the galaxy's Core Worlds.[1] It was situated at the beginning of the Rimma Trade Route.[6] Abregado-rae had the reputation to be a rather lawless world, and its main spaceport was as close to a safe dock for smugglers as could be found in the Core.[7]
During the High Republic Era, a countess living on Abregado-rae ordered a saberfish from Tibrin for her private aquarium, with it being transported to the Core in the starship Legacy Run. After the saberfish became ill due to her people not knowing how to care for it, the countess paid for the Run to return the fish to Tibrin.[3]
During the reign of the Galactic Empire, the Pyke Syndicate controlled the Abregado-Rae Spaceport. Around 5 BBY,[8] the bounty hunter Caviness Thorn and his crew took a bounty on Han Solo on the planet, planning to ambush him at the spaceport. The bounty hunter Beilert Valance soon came into the fold, agreeing to help Thorn until he learned that the target was Solo, who was formerly a fellow Imperial cadet with Valance. The job devolved into a skirmish between Valance and Thorn's crew, resulting with Solo and his Wookiee companion Chewbacca escaping.[4]
