- "My name's Joystick Chevron, of the Accresker Penal Legion—and I'm proud to do my part for the Empire."
- ―Chelli Lona Aphra, to Imperial interrogators
The Accresker Penal Legion was a unit of criminals deployed by the Galactic Empire as an expendable fighting force. They were based on Accresker Jail, a mash of warships held together with an attractor node and hauled about by a Arquitens-class command cruiser. Chelli Lona Aphra became a part of the legion following her arrest in an attack on the Son-tuul Pride. She attempted to escape by making her hubdroid malfunction and explode before having a rebellious hubdroid named Dek-Nil transfer her and Lopset Yas into his squad. They attempted to then use an escape pod to escape but Dek-Nil's restraining bolt was moved and took control of him, halting their plan.
Organization[edit | edit source]
The Accresker Penal Legion was made to be an expendable fighting force as it's entirety of soldiers were convicts. The criminals were kept in line by hubdroids using micro implants that detonated if the prisoner was more than ten meters away from the droid. The hubdroids led squads of at least half a dozen convicts into battle and supplied them with the needed food and weapons. If the hubdroid happened to die in battle or other circumstances, it's squad's implants would detonate all together to prevent any possible escape attempts without a hubdroid around. Squad members could not be transferred to another squad.
The Accresker Penal Legion operated solely from the Accresker Jail, a wreckage-prison held together by an attractor node and pulled by an Arquitens-class command cruiser. The wreckage prison deployed the many convicts into battle by undergoing a controlled collision and latching onto the target. The prison also had an airdome to keep a survivable environment for convicts to live in and fight in when the wreckage-prison was latched onto something.
