A Venator-class Star Destroyer was in service to the Galactic Republic naval forces' Open Circle Fleet, where it also served as the flagship for Jedi Master Adi Gallia during the Clone Wars. In 20 BBY, the Venator had traveled to the planet Aleen, where clone troopers of the Republic's 104th Battalion delivered the protocol droid C-3PO and the astromech droid R2-D2 to Gallia's flagship. Sometime after receiving the two droids, the Star Destroyer was ambushed near the planet Patitite Pattuna by a Confederacy of Independent Systems fleet led by the Kaleesh General Grievous, who boarded the Venator and captured Gallia, resulting in its destruction after her capture.
Description[]
- "They've hit the main reactor. Prepare to evacuate."
- ―Adi Gallia, to a clone navigation officer

The hangar bay of Adi Gallia's flagship
As a Venator-class Star Destroyer of the Galactic Republic, the capital ship retained a propulsion system of eight ion drive thrusters mounted at the vessel's stern,[4] as well as two command bridges.[1] At the top of each bridge were two hyperwave comm scanners used for communications,[6] while the interior of one bridge possessed a large room that retained a holotable at its center, as well as several holographic projection screens and a series of viewports that provided the bridge crew a panoramic view of the surrounding space.[1]
Furthermore, the cruiser[2] also retained at least a single room designated for the quarters of onboard personnel, which had several display screens along its back wall and a single chair within, while the Venator also retained several blast doors controlled by panels directly next to the doors. The Star Destroyer also possessed an internal communications system used to prompt its passengers and crewmembers to conduct an immediate evacuation of the vessel.[1]
Powered by a main reactor, the Venator was also armed with eight port and starboard DBY-827 heavy turbolaser turrets and two port and starboard medium dual turbolaser cannons.[5] In addition to its armament, the Star Destroyer was also in possession of a main hangar bay, from where its complement of Aggressive ReConnaissance-170 starfighters, BTL-B Y-wing starfighter/bombers and Low Altitude Assault Transport/infantry gunships were carried behind a series of blue lighted force fields. Furthermore, along its port and starboard hull, the Venator was emblazoned with the symbol of the Republic's Open Circle Fleet.[1]
History[]
- "Nonessential personnel evacuate immediately. Nonessential personnel evacuate immediately."
- ―A clone trooper, ordering all nonessential personnel to evacuate

Adi Gallia's flagship comes under attack by a Separatist fleet.
By 20 BBY,[7] the Venator-class Star Destroyer had become the flagship of Jedi General Adi Gallia,[1] a Jedi Master of the High Council[8] who helped lead the 91st Mobile Reconnaissance Corps during the time of the Clone Wars between the Galactic Republic and Confederacy of Independent Systems.[1] By 20 BBY,[7] the Republic undertook a relief mission to the planet Aleen under the supervision of Clone Commander CC-3636, otherwise known as "Wolffe," of the Republic's 104th Battalion.[1] Gallia also arrived at Aleen for the mission.[2]
Following the mission's completion, Wolffe and his clone troopers delivered the protocol droid C-3PO and the astromech droid R2-D2, who had assisted in the relief mission, to the Venator-class Star Destroyer,[1] and Gallia intended to use the Star Destroyer to return[2] to the Republic capital planet of Coruscant. While en route to Coruscant, the Venator was ambushed by a Separatist fleet near the planet Patitite Pattuna under the command of the Kaleesh General Grievous.[1] A Providence-class Dreadnought supported by two Munificent-class star frigates, the fleet was more than a match for the single Republic cruiser.[2]
Upon the arrival of Grievous's fleet, the Separatist warships was able to strike the port hull of Gallia's flagship, which resulted in significant damage to the main reactor and prompted the Jedi Master to order an immediate evacuation of all onboard personnel. As the onboard personnel made their way to the escape pods and Low Altitude Assault Transports, the two Republic droids, in an attempt to locate an escape pod, wandered throughout the entire Star Destroyer. While wandering, the two droids found Master Gallia locked in battle with the cyborg general, whom had managed to incapacitate the Jedi Master after a brief duel in a hallway within the Venator, while 91st clone troopers attempted to fend off the Separatist general's B1-series battle droids.[1]

Adi Gallia engages General Grievous in a duel aboard her flagship.
As Grievous's warships continued to fire upon the Venator, several Republic starfighters, bombers and gunships were deployed from its main hangar to fend off attacking Vulture-class droid starfighters, including one BTL-B Y-wing starfighter/bomber that had been piloted by C-3PO and R2-D2. However, despite the Republic's efforts,[1] the Kaleesh managed to best Gallia,[2] taking her captive aboard his Providence-class Dreadnought, while the three Separatist warships pressed fire on the Venator, resulting in its destruction as it exploded.[1]
Commanders and crew[]
- "All pilots to your stations. All flight crews, man your stations."
- ―A clone trooper, over the internal comms
The Venator-class Star Destroyer, serving as her flagship, was commanded by Jedi Master Adi Gallia during the second year of the war and was maintained by a crew of clone troopers and clone navigation officers. It was also crewed by R-series astromech droids, as well as several clone trooper flight crews, who operated within the Venator's main hangar bay.[1]
Behind the scenes[]
Adi Gallia's flagship first appeared in "Nomad Droids,"[1] the sixth episode of the fourth season of the Star Wars: The Clone Wars television series, which aired on October 14, 2011.[9] Released in 2020, the 47th issue of Star Wars: Build Your Own X-Wing erroneously used an image of the Steadfast during the capture of Eeth Koth to depict Grievous's capture of Gallia aboard her crusier.[2]
