Adoris was a terrestrial astronomical object located in the Adoris system of the Senex sector, a part of the Senex-Juvex region in the Western Reaches portion of the Mid Rim. A hyperlane linked it to the Caltinia and Knores systems. It was home to the tooka, a species of felines[1] also referred to as "Adoris Felines"[2] that were famous throughout the galaxy.[1]

The native inhabitants of Adoris were known as Adorisians and bred the tookas in a large number of varieties. Adoris was considered to be a possession of House Taneel, one of the aristocratic Ancient Houses of the Senex-Juvex region that was based on the nearby world of Neelanon.[1]

Behind the scenes[]

The name "Adoris" originated in Otherspace, a 1989 West End Games roleplaying adventure for Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game authored by Bill Slavicsek, in reference to the Adoris Feline creature.[3] "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star, How I Wonder Where We Are," a 1990 roleplaying game source article published in the thirteenth issue of the Voyages SF magazine placed the Adoris system, and therefore Adoris itself, in the Altor sector. Since the article was released outside of the Lucas Licensing process, its canonicity within the Star Wars Legends continuity was never confirmed.[4][4] Drawing upon the original mention of the Adoris Feline, the 2009 reference book The Essential Atlas, authored by Daniel Wallace and Jason Fry, established Adoris as an astronomical object and placed it in grid square L-17 as part of the Senex sector, overriding the Voyages SF 13 placement.[1]
