"So… advisor. What do you advise?"
―Darth Vader, to Sabé[12]

An advisor, or adviser, was an individual who helped another individual—often a leader, such as a military officer,[13] king, or an emperor—make decisions. On the planet Mon Cala, Mon Calamari Captain Gial Ackbar served as a military advisor to King Yos Kolina during the Clone Wars.[14] After leaving the Jedi Order and no longer being part of the Grand Army of the Republic, former Jedi Padawan Ahsoka Tano was unable to serve as the commander of a Republic division for the Siege of Mandalore. As such, Clone Captain CT-7567 "Rex" was made the leader of the unit, and Tano was dubbed an advisor.[13]

Galactic Emperor Sheev Palpatine employed several bureaucrats throughout his reign that advised him on how to rule his galaxy-wide Empire.[15] Grand Admiral Mitth'raw'nuruodo served as a Chief Advisor to the Emperor concerning matters with the Unknown Regions.[16] During the hunt for Crimson Dawn, the former Naboo Royal Handmaiden Sabé was made a Lieutenant Commander and advisor in the Imperial Military on the order of Darth Vader.[12] Approximately four years after the Battle of Yavin, Gallius Rax proclaimed himself Counselor to the Empire, an unprecedented title tasked to act as an adviser to the shattered Empire.[17]
