An advisor was an individual that gave advice to another individual, such as a politician, head of state, bureaucrat, or military leader. An advisor provided advice on many important issues, including politics, diplomacy, military strategy, and so forth.

During the Clone Wars clone advisors were an individual who served as an advisor to a specific clone commando squad. Their duty was to inform the squad about their missions, status, and objectives. Their duty was to inform the squad about their missions, status, and objectives.[1]

Besides actual clone troopers, it was rumored that some or all of the Cuy'val Dar were used as clone advisors during the Clone Wars. Because of the secrecy surrounding these individuals, knowledge is scarce as to their official role as support personnel. One trooper named 01/425 served as a clone advisor to Delta Squad.[1]

During the Galactic Civil War, the Alliance to Restore the Republic dispatched advisors to counsel groups and species looking to oppose the Galactic Empire. These advisors were familiar with resistance tactics and operations, and taught the skills to their allies. A team of advisors were assigned to assist the Sessehshellah on the planet Shaymore in their fight to destroy Imperial hydrocarbon operations. Initially, the Sesselshellah were contemptuous of the advisors, believing they lacked courage because of the degree of caution and practicality the Alliance team attempted to instil in their plans. Over time, the advisors and Sesselshellah came to respect one another's skills; the Sesselshellah appreciating the shrewdness and cleverness of the Alliance advisors, while the Rebels learned to see the aliens were experts on their own native environment and how to use their own special talents agains the Empire.[2]
