The Ailon Nova Guard was an ancient mercenary culture, created eons before the Clone Wars fought between the Galactic Republic and Confederacy of Independent Systems[1] from 22 BBY to 19 BBY.[2] Employing the entire humanoid Ailon species in their ranks, the mercenaries were donned with heavy golden battle armor and wielded polearms and eklot swords that were laced with neurotoxin. When the Clone Wars struck the galaxy, the Ailon Nova Guard aided the Republic in the conflict, fighting for the faction in multiple battles.[1]

The Ailon Nova Guard was introduced in the current Star Wars canon in Collapse of the Republic, a 2019 supplement to Fantasy Flight Games' series of Star Wars Roleplaying products.[1] In the Star Wars Legends continuity, the Ailon Nova Guard was originally introduced in Galaxy Guide 9: Fragments from the Rim, a 1993 sourcebook authored by Simon Smith and Eric S. Trautmann and published by West End Games for Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game.[3]
