Airtight Base was one of the notable bodies within the Hoth asteroid belt, which overlapped the boundries of the Hoth system and Anoat system in the Anoat sector of the Outer Rim Territories.[2]

Airtight Base was mentioned in the new Star Wars canon in issue 39 of Star Wars: Build the Millennium,[2] which was released around September 30, 2015.[4] The base originated in the Star Wars Legends continuity, where it appeared in "Rough and Tundra," a 2004 adventure for the Star Wars Roleplaying Game released by Wizards of the Coast.[5]
