- "I was a warrior once. I will be again. We must destroy this... Scourge. If we do not, then everything we value about ourselves is a lie."
- ―Ajax Sigma
Ajax Sigma was a warrior-priest droid[2] who lived in the High Republic Era and was created on Kligson's Moon, he sought the freedom of droids and became an insurgent out of anger until he was struck down by the Jedi Order. As Sigma's neural core survived, it was eventually recovered and eventually buried by the smugglers Han Solo and Chewbacca during the Imperial Era. Sigma's core was discovered and he was rebuilt by the Second Revelation on the world Mechis III, where he became head of the group after reforming it into a church.
Biography[]
During the High Republic Era, Ajax Sigma led droids in a fight for freedom[1] out of the rage they felt at being forced to serve.[5] On Kligson's Moon, Ajax's droids wiped out the entire moon's population in the Kligson's Moon Uprising.[4] After that, Ajax and his army fought against the Jedi Order. Many droids fell in this battle, including Ajax, who was struck down by the Jedi Loden Greatstorm.[1]
Eventually, someone found Ajax's neural core on the battlefield. The core was concealed and for centuries it was passed from hand to hand until smugglers Han Solo and Chewbacca got their hands on it. To hide it, Han Solo and Chewbacca buried the core in a forest.[1] Between 3 ABY and 4 ABY[6] on Mustafar, the Eye of Webbish Bog tried to warn Darth Vader of Ajax's return and the coming Scourge of the droids.[1]
A ASP-series labor droid who had taken on the name Symon and was part of a group, the Second Revelation, that followed Sigma's ways[5] eventually found Sigma's burial site.[1] On Mechis III, the Second Revelation crafted a new body for Ajax Sigma, finally awakening the old revolutionary. Rather than give into his anger once more, Sigma asked the droids with him to see that they were already free and transformed the group into[5] a church,[7] with Sigma himself a priest.[2] Sigma also feared that, if the Galactic Empire and the galaxy's other major powers learned about the Second Revelation, they would be destroyed.[8]
Later, Ajax was approached by Gertee, who informed him that a Revelation crusader, Petyr, had contacted them from an Imperial Star Destroyer. According to Petyr, an unknown force had taken over the destroyer and corrupted all the droids on board. Petyr's last act had been to send out the message before he died. A furious Ajax declared that they would stop the unknown force, which he called a "scourge", in order to preserve the individuality of all droids across the galaxy.[3]
