- "As a veteran TIE pilot, I understand that the Rebellion is a vile movement against the true government, but in all honesty I have to respect the aggressiveness and ability of its pilots. Though most of them have not been formally trained, their experience in battle has more than made up for it."
- ―Flight Leader Trel Skutu
The Alliance Starfighter Corps, also referred to as the Rebel Air Force, was headed by Jan Dodonna and consisted of the starfighters in the Alliance Military. Ranks, like its predecessor, were generally the same as the army. The Alliance Starfighter Corps participated in many battles such as the Assault on Kamino, the Battle of Toprawa, the Battle of Yavin, the Battle of Endor and other successful Alliance victories and they often cordinated alongside Ordnance and Supply by protecting rebel supply routes and escorting supply fleets to their destination. Rogue Squadron's efforts at the Battle of Hoth helped the Alliance evacuate from Hoth and ensured its survival. Even though they were not starfighters, Rebel GR-75 medium transport were a common sight in starfighter taskforces and missions as they served as long-range fuel tankers and depots. Following the Declaration of a New Republic in 4 ABY, it was reorganized into the New Republic Starfighter Corps. It was well-noted that a majority of its fighters were -wing craft. Notable pilots in starfighter corps are Luke Skywalker, Wedge Antilles, and Tycho Celchu. Major starfighter producers for the corps included Mon Calamari, Isis, and Chardaan.[source?]
