- "This orange-skinned, four-eyed, horn-headed sentient species found themselves under attack from the government after the rise of the Galactic Empire, and many were forced to flee their homeworld."
- ―An entry on Leffingites in an artist's journal restored and expanded by the Graf Archive
Almak was the homeworld of the sentient Leffingite species[3] and was located in the Almak system within the Almak sector of the Mid Rim Territories[1] and the Western Reaches.[2] It was situated in grid square J-17 of the Standard Galactic Grid.[1]
The Leffingite Magaloof was from Almak,[3] although by 22 BBY,[4] he was working as a criminal on the planet Coruscant, where Almakian apple pie from Almak had made its way onto the menu of the eatery Dex's Diner. During the reign of the Galactic Empire, many Leffingites came under attack from the government and were forced to flee Almak. Almak was mentioned in an entry on Leffingites in an artist's journal, which was restored, expanded, and displayed by the Graf Archive[3] at some point no earlier than 34 ABY.[5]
Behind the scenes[]
- "Magaloof's homeworld, Almak, is just random letters that sounded good together."
- ―Gregory Walker
In the current Star Wars canon, Almak was first mentioned in an entry on Magaloof on the current StarWars.com Databank,[7] which had been published by February 8, 2016.[8] The world originated in the Star Wars Legends continuity,[9] where it was created by Gregory Walker, writing as "NarbFlick,"[10] as part of the backstory for Magaloof,[9] submitted through the StarWars.com Hyperspace feature "What's The Story?." The entry was added to the site's original Databank on August 12, 2005.[11] Walker later claimed that Almak's name was simply derived from "random letters that sounded good together."[6]
