History
Discovered at the birth of the Galactic Republic, the world would be forgotten for a brief time before being settled by Human colonists during the Tionese War. The native Alzarians, ruled over by a monarchy, accepted the colonists and lived in peace for several millennia. Engulfed in the Empire of Darth Revan during the Jedi Civil War, and under Mandalorian control before that, Alzar eventually joined the Republic following the defeat of the controlling Brotherhood of Darkness during the New Sith Wars.[2]
Unable to avoid domination, the Alzarians were wrapped into the Confederacy of Independent Systems' war against the Republic in 22 BBY. Promised freedom from the Republic's oppressive trade taxes, the world remained under Separatist protection until their defeat in 19 BBY. The Galactic Empire then absorbed the world under its control.[2] King Gokus purchased a set of droids during Imperial rule that would eventually aid in the defeat of the Empire years later. These droids, C-3PO and R2-D2 would assist the King in the recovery of his kidnapped child, Prince Plooz in 10 BBY.[3]

Following the end of the attack, the surviving Alzarians remained under the watchful eye of Warlord Zsinj who had taken the planet to further his empire. The planet Alzar was created for the fourth issue of the Star Wars Droids series, published in 1986. It was later noted in the The Essential Atlas.
