Warning: This infobox is missing the following parameters: otherlife Alzar was a planet located in the Thanium sector of the Outer Rim Territories. The Alzarian homeworld, the world was devastated during the Stenax Massacres of 4 ABY.

History

Discovered at the birth of the Galactic Republic, the world would be forgotten for a brief time before being settled by Human colonists during the Tionese War. The native Alzarians, ruled over by a monarchy, accepted the colonists and lived in peace for several millennia. Engulfed in the Empire of Darth Revan during the Jedi Civil War, and under Mandalorian control before that, Alzar eventually joined the Republic following the defeat of the controlling Brotherhood of Darkness during the New Sith Wars.[2]

Unable to avoid domination, the Alzarians were wrapped into the Confederacy of Independent Systems' war against the Republic in 22 BBY and remained in Separatist space until their defeat in 19 BBY. The Galactic Empire then absorbed the world under its area of control.[2] King Gokus purchased a set of droids during Imperial rule that would eventually aid in the defeat of the Empire years later. These droids, C-3PO and R2-D2 would assist the King in the recovery of his kidnapped child, Prince Plooz.[3]

Following Emperor Palpatine's death, the world was invaded by the barbarous Stenax and the native Alzarians were massacred. Following the end of the attacks, the surviving Alzarians remained under the watchful eye of Warlord Zsinj who had taken the planet to further his empire. Following Zsinj's defeat, Alzar, like many worlds in the Borderland Regions, remained neutral during the New Republic's reign. When the rest of the sector was invaded during the Yuuzhan Vong War, the planet was cut off from the rest of the galaxy, forced to fend for itself against the Yuuzhan Vong invaders. As of 137 ABY, Alzar was located in Darth Krayt's Galactic Empire.[2]

Behind the scenes

The planet Alzar was created for the fourth issue of the Star Wars Droids series, published in 1986. It was later noted in the The Essential Atlas.
