Amber, formally Wydawnictwo AMBER, is a Polish publishing company, which publishes Star Wars novels in Poland. Amber has published many of the Star Wars Expanded Universe novels, although they have not published the Jedi Apprentice series.
With more than 120 titles published, Amber remains the most prolific non-English publisher of Star Wars novels in the world; in general, the Polish Star Wars novels market is one of the largest of all non-English novel markets, second only to the German market. Amber is also the oldest foreign Star Wars novels publisher which keeps publishing up to date. While there has been much complaint on the translation errors; Amber has employed no less than seventeen Star Wars translators throughout the last 16 years, or primitive cover adaptations, Amber is generally viewed by Polish fans as one of the most important factors to the EU's ongoing popularity in Poland.
Star Wars publications[]
The first Star Wars novel published by Amber was Heir to the Empire (Dziedzic Imperium) translated by Anna and Jan Mickiewicz in 1994. This was the only title to be published in that year. The least lucrative years were the following: 1995, with 4 publications, 2007, with 5 publications, and 2008, with 5 publications; while 2001 was the most fruitful year, with a grand total of 12 publications. Up to 2005, Amber also published some of the Essential Guides and comic books; the latter are not listed below, however.
