Ando was a water-covered planet in the Ando system of the Lambda sector in the galaxy's Mid Rim, located in grid square Q-15 on the Standard Galactic Grid, that was the homeworld of the amphibious Aqualish species. At the time of the Trade Federation's Invasion of Naboo, it was a member of the Galactic Republic and was represented in the Galactic Senate by Senator Po Nudo. During the Separatist Crisis, turmoil occurred on Ando that left the galaxy staggered and it seceded from the Republic, joining the Confederacy of Independent Systems, which promised it the support of the InterGalactic Banking Clan and Techno Union. A type of wine known as Andoan wine was produced on Ando. It was the homeworld of Senator Po Nudo, the weapons manufacturer Amda Wabo, and the smuggler Ponda Baba.
Description[]
Ando was a terrestrial planet covered in water,[3] with some swamp regions.[4] Five percent of the planet was comprised of islands often fought over by the Aquala, the Quara, and the Ualaq subspecies of the Aqualish.[9] It was situated in the Ando system[2] of the Mid Rim's[1] Lambda sector,[2] in Standard Galactic Grid square Q-15.[1]
History[]
During the Jedi-Sith War, the Sith constructed a temple on Ando which became a stronghold of the dark side of the Force during the conflict.[4]
By 32 BBY,[10] during the Trade Federation's invasion of the planet Naboo, Ando was a member of the Galactic Republic, represented in the Galactic Senate by Senator Po Nudo.[7] Later, during the Separatist Crisis, the galaxy was left staggered by turmoil occurring on Ando,[11] and the planet seceded from the Republic to join the Confederacy of Independent Systems,[8] which promised it the support of the InterGalactic Banking Clan and Techno Union.[12]
During the Clone Wars between the Republic and Confederacy,[10] the terrorist organization Death Wind, led by the former Republic commander Mekedrix, established a base in the ruins of the Sith temple on Ando. Jedi Generals Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker were sent to Ando to deal with the group.[4]
Andoan wine was produced on Ando.[6]
Inhabitants[]
Ando was the homeworld of the Aqualish, a sentient amphibious species.[5] Aqualish from Ando included Po Nudo,[7] weapons manufacturer Amda Wabo,[13] and smuggler Ponda Baba.[14]
