Although this article is based on canonical information, the actual name of this subject is pure conjecture.

"In the years leading up to the Battle of Yavin, Tatooine retained aspects of independence from the Empire, something the residents were apparently highly defensive of, but over time Imperial patrols in the space around the planet and in some of the major cities began to increase. At some point between 9 BBY and 4 ABY,[1] the Outer Rim Territories planet Tatooine was annexed by the Galactic Empire.[2] The Empire largely remained away from Tatooine[4] but maintained a military presence.[5] In the years before the Battle of Yavin, Imperial patrols in the space surrounding the planet and in a number of major cities began to increase. Along with other worlds on the edge of the Empire's territory, Tatooine was not formally conquered but instead partially colonized and occupied for a large duration of the reign of the Empire.[3] The Empire finally arrived in force[4] in pursuit of the rebel droids C-3PO and R2-D2[6] in 0 BBY.[7]

As Star Wars: Timelines dates the founding of the Galactic Empire and the Battle of Endor to 19 BBY and 4 ABY respectively, the annexation must have occurred between those two years. In "Part I," the events of which are dated to 9 BBY by Timelines, an Anchorhead resident mentions that the planet is not under the Empire, meaning the annexation must have taken place afterward.
