"Karagga is the most powerful Hutt in the galaxy, and he rules the Hutt Cartel with an iron fist. By his decree, the Hutt Cartel has invaded no less than ten of its neighboring systems in the last month."
―Ambassador Rove[src]

During the Galactic War between the Galactic Republic and the reconstituted Sith Empire, the Hutt Cartel annexed ten neutral star systems on the edges of Hutt Space over the course of a month in order to replace territory lost in a recent string of attacks by an unknown force. Among the systems conquered by the Hutts was the Vyron system, and its annexation spurred the Republic to send a team to Nal Hutta to find out Karagga's reasoning at the same time the Empire sent a similar group for the same purpose.[1]
