Antiseptic coveralls were a type of protective clothing that could be worn in laboratory settings. The loose-fitting garment was white with an aqua yoke and black stripes outlining the top of each shoulder seam, as well as two external right breast pockets for holding code cylinders. The antiseptic coveralls prevented lab contamination, and they were worn with white boots that could ground potentially harmful static charges. The aqua yoke would change color in the presence of harmful levels of radiation.[1]

The Kyber crystal research team wore antiseptic coveralls during their work at the Eadu Energy Conversion Laboratory. Their coveralls had the insignia of the Tarkin Initiative in black on the left breast[1] and the back of the right shoulder,[4] as well as the Imperial crest on the left shoulder. next to the insignia on the left breast were the aurebesh initials KC.[1] Scientists within Moff Gideon's Imperial Remnant working on his Dark Trooper project wore a version of the coveralls with the emblem of the Imperial Department of Military Research on the right breast and on the back, alongside the Imperial crest on the shoulder.[3]

A similar set of coveralls was worn by at least one Imperial nurse on the Death Star. It bore an unidentified symbol on the breast and no insignia on the shoulders. Beneath her uniform, the nurse wore a blue shirt.[2]

During the time of the New Republic, a similar uniform was worn by medical assistants within the Re-Integration Institute. It had a darker blue yoke and bore the red sigil on the left shoulder.[5]

Behind the scenes[]

This uniform first appeared in the 2016 film[6] Rogue One: A Star Wars Story[4] and was subsequently used in Chapter 12: The Siege[3] of The Mandalorian, which aired November 20, 2020.[7]

The symbol that appears on the coveralls of Gideon's scientists is identical to the insignia for the Imperial Department of Military Research used in Star Wars Legends;[8] it has therefore been assumed that the symbol represents the same organisation in Canon.
