Anza[3] was a fiery red star[4] located in the Abregado system[2] of the galaxy's Core Worlds that was orbited by the planet Abregado-Rae, both of which were located in the grid square K-13[1] of the Standard Galactic Grid.[5]

In 22 BBY,[6] it was the site of the Battle of Abregado during the Clone Wars, where the Separatist Subjugator-class heavy cruiser Malevolence single-handedly annihilated an entire Republic fleet. This resulted in the formation of a debris field in orbit of Anza, which was comprised of starship wreckage.[2]

Behind the scenes

In the new Star Wars canon, the star of the Abregado system was created for "Rising Malevolence,"[2] the second episode of Star Wars: The Clone Wars' first season, which originally aired on October 3, 2008.[7] However, it first appeared in the opening newsreel of "Ambush," the first episode of the season[8] that also aired on the same day.[9]

The star Anza was originally introduced in Coruscant and the Core Worlds, a 2003 Star Wars Legends sourcebook for the Star Wars Roleplaying Game.[10] The name was brought into canon by the 2017 reference book Star Wars: The Visual Encyclopedia, which was penned by Adam Bray, Cole Horton, and Tricia Barr.[3]
