"Best day of your life, my grabby friend!"
"I don't know, you've never been to a Mynock roast on Ardennia. It's nuts!"
―Tobias Beckett and Rio Durant[3]

Ardennia was an Outer Rim Territories planet that was the homeworld of the sentient Ardennian species. The human Juronus Opto and the Wayuning Topi Topi were also native to that world, and the inhabitants of Ardennia held repeated events known as Mynock roasts. The latter fact was known to the Ardennian pilot and thief Rio Durant, who hailed from Ardennia as well.

Description[]

Ardennia was a terrestrial[3] planet[5] located in the regions known as the Outer Rim Territories[1] and the New Territories.[2] Situated within grid square K-6 of the Standard Galactic Grid, it was connected via a hyperspace route to[1] the Carlac system[6] as well as the Mid Rim astronomical object Orinda.[1] Ardennia also shared its name with the Ardennian Guild of Technicians that was active during the High Republic Era.[7]

History[]

Rio Durant SoloTOCE

Ardennia was the homeworld of the Ardennians, including Rio Durant (pictured).

Ardennia's native sentient species, the Ardennians,[4] were already known off-world[8] by 382 BBY.[9] Rio Durant, an Ardennian pilot and thief who had served with the Galactic Republic-aligned Freedom's Sons army during the Clone Wars[10] of 22 BBY19 BBY,[11] hailed from Ardennia.[10]

In 10 BBY,[11] during an attempted theft[3] of a shipment of valuable refined coaxium from a Galactic Empire 20-T Railcrawler conveyex transport on the planet Vandor,[10] the human Tobias Beckett, the leader of the crew of criminals that Durant was a part of, excitedly declared that their upcoming haul would render that day the best of the Ardennian's life. In response, Durant quipped that he was not sure about that since Beckett had never participated in a Mynock roast event on Ardennia.[3]

Ardennia was also the homeworld of the human Juronus Opto and the Wayuning Topi Topi, which was noted in the postings of bounties issued for them by the time of the First Order occupation of the planet Batuu[12] in 34 ABY.[13] At some point, Ardennia was also mentioned in an entry of an artist's journal dedicated to the Ardennians. The entry was included in a section of the work describing sentient species that originated in wet habitats. The journal was restored, expanded, and displayed at the Graf Archive[4] at some point no earlier than 34 ABY.[14] In addition, the Mynock roasts of Ardennia were noted in the journal of the Galactic Society of Creature Enthusiasts cartographer Ardis San Tekka,[5] which was published at some point no earlier than 35 ABY.[15]

The Wayuning Topi Topi, a native of Ardennia

Ardennia was the homeworld of the Ardennian species, members of which had four arms as well as prehensile toes on their two feet.[4] The natives of the planet also included the human Juronus Opto and the Wayuning Topi Topi.[12] Ardennia's inhabitants repeatedly held events known as Mynock roasts, which the Ardennian Rio Durant once described as "nuts."[3] The events involved the cooking of mynocks[5]edible, silicon-based, ergovorous creatures[4] that originated from the planet Ord Mynock[16] and could survive in deep space as well as in planetary surface conditions.[4]

Behind the scenes[]

Ardennia was first mentioned in the 2018 Star Wars Anthology Series film Solo: A Star Wars Story.[3]
