"I don't care if they turn into Arkanian dragons and fly us out."
―Gudry, to Arihnda Pryce[1]

Arkanian dragons were a species of dragon capable of flight.[1] The creatures shared their name with the Arkanians, the native species of the Colonies planet Arkania.[2] Around 2 BBY,[3] the governor of the planet Lothal, Arihnda Pryce, and Imperial Security Bureau agent Gudry went to the planet Batonn in order to gather intelligence on the insurgency there, as well as to extract Pryce's parents, Talmoor and Elainye Pryce. While on the planet, Gudry informed the governor that he would not bring her parents with them, sarcastically adding that they could not come even if they became Arkanian dragons who could fly their group out.[1]

Behind the scenes[]

In the current Star Wars canon, Arkanian dragons were mentioned in the 2017 novel Thrawn, authored by Timothy Zahn as the first installment of Star Wars: The Thrawn Trilogy.[1] In the Star Wars Legends continuity, Arkanian dragons were first mentioned in the fifth issue of the Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi - Dark Lords of the Sith comic series,[4] released on February 14, 1995.[5]
