Armored personnel carrier

An armored personnel carrier of the Cilpari Resistance.

Armored personnel carrier, or APC, was a designation given to a multitude of armored ground vehicles used as troop transports. They were mostly used by armed forces to ferry troops to the battlefield. In addition, armored personnel carriers could be used by civilian companies to transport their staff in hostile environment. One example was Corellia Mining Corporation's A-19 armored transport. Most military APCs were considered "light" vehicles.

History

During the Galactic Civil War, the Alliance to Restore the Republic modified A-A5 speeder trucks to serve as armored personnel carriers. The Freerunner was one of the favorite APCs of the Alliance Special Forces.

Armored personnel carriers were used by the Cilpari Resistance on Cilpar in 4 ABY. Using tracked wheels rather than repulsorlift technology, it was a low-slung gray-colored vehicle with a dome-like cockpit which had a red viewport. A convoy of these vehicles were used to transport resistance soldiers into battle against the local Moff Boren Tascl, with air cover provided by Rogue Squadron.

Armored personnel carriers were armed vehicles used by the Chiss Expansionary Defense Force during their battles with the Killiks in the Swarm War. Chiss APCs were armed with maser cannons fitted to the top of the vehicles. They were deployed against oncoming Kolosolok forces during the Battle of Tenupe.
