In 2 BBY,^[2] the Galactic Empire carried out the arrest of Senator Dasi Oran, the representative of the planet Ghorman in the Imperial Senate.^[1] Ghorman had long been of interest to the Empire thanks to its supply of Kalkite, resulting in the drawn out suppression of Ghorman^[3] that culminated in the Ghorman Massacre.^[4] Once Imperial victory was secured on Ghorman, stormtroopers entered the Imperial Senate Building—something that was a rare sight—and arrested Oran without charges. Oran begged his fellow senators to take notice as he was taken way, declaring that his people were being slaughtered and the same would happen to their own worlds.^[1]
