"There have been unsubstantiated reports of a number of possible candidates. One, a Talpini spotted by Togruta intelligence on Ashas Rine."

A hologram of Zeetar on Ashas Rine.

Ashas Rine was an astronomical object in the galaxy where the Talpini Nihil Tempest Runner Zeetar was spotted by Togruta intelligence in the aftermath of the attack on Valo[1] around 231 BBY.[2] The Jedi Order and the Galactic Republic had identified him as a potential candidate for becoming Eye of the Nihil in the wake of the presumed death of Lourna Dee,[1] another Tempest Runner they had mistaken for the Nihil's leader,[3] at the Battle of Galov. Jedi Master Stellan Gios reported on the sighting of Zeetar at a briefing at the Starlight Beacon space station, displaying a hologram image of the Tempest Runner on Ashas Rine.[1]

Behind the scenes[]

Ashas Rine appeared in a hologram in a flashback scene from the ninth issue of the Star Wars: The High Republic comic book series, which was written by Cavan Scott, illustrated by Ario Anindito, and published by Marvel Comics[1] on September 1, 2021.[4]

  2. The Star Wars Book dates the launch of the Starlight Beacon to 232 years before the events of Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope, which corresponds to 232 BBY according to Star Wars: Galactic Atlas. As The High Republic: Light of the Jedi depicts the Beacon's launch, the novel's events must take place around that year. The novel The High Republic: The Rising Storm takes place almost a year after the events of Light of the Jedi, so the events of The Rising Storm must take place around 231 BBY.
