"Without any of his She'ar?"
"He doesn't think they're worth as much as he lets on, especially since Arathab was murdered."
"In an assassination attempt."
―Ghirra Starros and Nan[3]

In 228 BBY,[1] an assassination attempt against Eye of the Nihil Marchion Ro was carried out. The attempt was unsuccessful, but resulted in the death of Arathab Fal—a member of[3] Ro's loyal bodyguards[4] known as the She'ar. As a result of Fal's death, the Eye began to see less value in the group. The event eventually became known to the Nihil spy Nan and the Nihil Minister of Information Ghirra Starros.[3]

In 228 BBY,[1] when Starros questioned Nan about Ro's location, the spy informed her that she did not know. The minister then asked Nan if he had taken any of the She'ar with him, to which the spy told Starros of the Eye's waning opinion of the group after Fal's death. The minister then recalled the assassination attempt and mentally considered that a lot of her problems would be solved if Ro managed to have himself killed.[3]

Behind the scenes[]

The assassination attempt on Marchion Ro was first mentioned in the novel The High Republic: Temptation of the Force, written by Tessa Gratton and published as part of the Star Wars: The High Republic multimedia project's[3] Phase III on June 11, 2024.[5] The event later appeared in The High Republic Adventures: Crash and Burn, a one-shot comic published as part of The High Republic's Phase III. The issue was written by Daniel José Older, illustrated by Nick Brokenshire, and published by Dark Horse Comics[2] on September 4 of the same year.[5]
