The Atrivis Day 4 was a BFF-1 bulk freighter used by the Alliance to Restore the Republic to ferry supplies. It was part of the freighter group Atrivis Day. It was part of a convoy traveling to the Organarms Deep Space Manufacturing Facility that encountered an Imperial Missile Boat. Its presence in this engagement was later replayed in an Imperial holosimulator mission, training pilots for the Missile Boat.

Atrivis Day 4 was the name of a BFF-1 bulk freighter working for the Alliance to Restore the Republic during the early years of the Galactic Civil War. Working in conjunction with Atrivis Day 1, 2 and 3, the four freighters were collectively known as Atrivis Day. The freighter was metallic gray, with some red inner panel. It was equipped with shields and a hyperdrive.[1]

Rebel serviceEdit

At the start of the Zaarin insurrection in 4 ABY, Atrivis Day 4 was part of an Alliance convoy hauling supplies to the Organarms Deep Space Manufacturing Facility. In addition to the Atrivis Day group, the convoy was composed of the Container Transport group Kempman, the Modular Conveyor group Altar Moon, the freighter group Rimrunner and eight other container ships. Military support was provided by the Nebulon-B escort frigate Dahome as well as fighters from Red, Gold, and Blue Squadrons.[1]

Atrivis Day 4 was part of a group of freighters at the forefront of the convoy, hauling raw materials. However, upon reverting from hyperspace, it found the Organarms facility destroyed, the target of a lone Imperial Missile Boat, still in-system. This enemy craft was joined shortly after by the Imperial Strike-class medium cruiser Arjun. As the small Imperial craft moved to engage Atrivis Day 4 and its companion freighters, the rest of the convoy began to arrive in-system, beginning with a number of BTL Y-wing starfighters and Z-95 Headhunters from Red Squadron, who moved to attack the Imperial forces.[1]

The role of the Atrivis Day 4 at this battle was later included in an Imperial simulation used to train pilots for the Missile Boat. Such notable pilots as Maarek Stele,[1] an eventual Emperor's Hand,[2] trained on this mission.[1]

Behind the scenesEdit

Atrivis Day 4 was created for LucasArts' Star Wars: TIE Fighter - Defender of the Empire (1994), the expansion pack to their video game Star Wars: TIE Fighter. There, it appeared as an enemy vessel in the first simulator mission, training the player in the use of the Missile Boat. These simulator missions were based on in-universe historical missions. Consequently, the actual existence of the Atrivis Day 1 in canon is confirmed, but the specific outcome of the original engagement is not. Instead, the simulation allows the player to accomplish the mission to varying degrees of completeness. As the destruction of the Atrivis Day group is only a secondary goal for the player,[3] the mission can be accomplished with or without their destruction, leaving uncertainty as to the ship's final in-universe fate.

The name of this freighter is likely a nod to the Atrivis sector, a sector of the Outer Rim Territories known to be an early hotbed of Rebel activity.[4]
