"Launch the attack."
―Darth Vader[3]

An attack was conducted by the Galactic Empire on the base of the Path on the planet Jabiim. The assault was led by Dark Lord of the Sith Darth Vader and Grand Inquisitor Third Sister.

The attack[]

Imperial assault[]

"My lord, we're approaching Jabiim."
"Lock down the facility."
"If we seal them in now, they can hold out for days. If we cannot break them—"
"It is not them we need to break."
―The Third Sister and Darth Vader as they arrive in the Jabiim system[3]

Stormtroopers charge into the Path base.

Led to the planet via a tracking device planted on Princess of Alderaan Leia Organa's toy droid L0-LA59, the ground assault—led by the Third Sister after the Sith Lord Darth Vader promoted her to be the Grand Inquisitor—had the main objective of hunting down and capturing Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi, and a secondary objective of capturing or eliminating all present members of the Path. As the Third Sister commanded the ground attack, Vader remained aboard the Devastator in orbit.[3]

During the assault, the Path was trapped in the base by L0-LA59, who was being controlled by the Galactic Empire via a restraining bolt. While fortifying and preparing to evacuate, Kenobi stalled for time by attempting to convince the Third Sister to help him defeat Vader, then surrendering himself. Ben Kenobi later escaped and boarded a freight transport alongside the other members of the Path, while Dark Lord of the Sith Darth Vader Force pulled another transport.[3]

Duel with Reva[]

"Hello Third Sister. Revenge does wonders for the will to live, don't you think? Your rage was useful. Now it is tiresome. We will leave you where we found you. In the gutter, where you belong. Goodbye… Grand Inquisitor."
―The Grand Inquisitor reveals his survival to Reva[3]

The Third Sister proved no match for Darth Vader.

The Third Sister then attempted to assassinate Vader, only for him to defeat her in a lightsaber duel, gravely wounding her and relinquishing her title back to the Grand Inquisitor. As the revived Grand Inquisitor and several stormtroopers joined them, Vader said that the Third Sister was of no use to him. The Grand Inquisitor greeted the Third Sister, stating that revenge could fuel the will to live. After Vader, the Grand Inquisitor, and the remaining troopers departed, she then eyed Kenobi's holoprojector and intercepted Viceroy Bail Prestor Organa's message and learned that Anakin Skywalker had a son on Tatooine and daughter on Alderaan that Organa was hiding.[3]

Aboard Roken's ship, Kenobi and Leia sat among the refugees. Roken told them that the ship's hyperdrive was not working and that the Empire was still pursuing them. Kenobi realized his holoprojector was missing but told Roken that nothing was wrong.[3] The Devastator chased after the ship and fired upon it until Kenobi, realizing that Vader would prioritize his hunt for him instead of going after the Path, fled from the freighter aboard an escape craft, escaping to a barren moon that Vader followed him to.[2]

Behind the scenes[]

The attack on Jabiim debuted in "Part V" of Obi-Wan Kenobi, which released in June 15, 2022.[3]
