"Shortly after the Battle of Geonosis, our troop transport got caught between two Separatist gunships. They fired at us with everything they had. We crashed. Most of us were either dead or severely injured. When they started going through the wounded, killing us off, I knew there was no hope. I ran. It still haunts me."
―Cut Lawquane — (audio) Listen (file info)[src]

Shortly after the First Battle of Geonosis, a pair of Confederate gunships ambushed a Galactic Republic troop transport, causing it to crash and killing or injuring the majority of the clone troopers on board. The Separatist battle droids pursued the downed craft and began killing off the wounded troopers, leading one of the survivors, Cut Lawquane, to flee from the battlefield and abandon his military service in the Grand Army of the Republic.
