"We all have things we don't forget. I remember my first unit, the boys and I were sent to Onderon to bring peace to a troubled world. We were on a routine patrol when we ran into one of your rebel friends, a Lasat mercenary who worked for Saw Gerrera. I was lucky, knocked out by the first blast. I came to, but found I couldn't move, and then I saw him. The Lasat calmly walked through smoke and fire to finish off my unit one by one. The injured never had a chance, always wondered why he let me live."
―Agent Kallus, to Garazeb Orrelios[2]

Around 18 BBY,[3] the Partisans attacked[1] Alexsandr Kallus and his squad of stormtroopers,[4] who had been sent to Onderon as part of Imperial efforts to bring order to the planet. The unit had been on a routine patrol[2] led by Kallus[1] when the Partisans crossed paths with the Imperials. A Lasat mercenary destroyed the entire unit except for Kallus.[2]

Behind the scenes[]

Star Wars: Timelines,[3] first published on April 18, 2023,[5] dates the mission to around 18 BBY, while Star Wars: Dawn of Rebellion: The Visual Guide, first published on November 2, 2023,[6] dates the mission to 7 BBY.[1] The 2019 reference book Ultimate Star Wars, New Edition[7] and its 2024 update Star Wars Encyclopedia: The Comprehensive Guide to the Star Wars Galaxy provided further detail by noting that the events on Onderon were Kallus's first mission for the Empire.[4] Timelines dates another one of Kallus's Imperial missions—his appearance in "Flight of the Falcon, Part 1: Spy Games"—to circa 10 BBY.[3] If the mission to Onderon is Kallus's first Imperial mission,[4] then it must occur before 7 BBY, per Timelines. Therefore, this article assumes Dawn of Rebellion is mistaken.
