During the Cold War between the Sith Empire and the Galactic Republic, the Sith Lord Nefarid led an Imperial force in an attack upon the Mensaav Military Laboratory on Alderaan in order to capture the Death Mark laser superweapon. The Jedi Master Orgus Din rallied to the lab's defense and drove back the Imperials, forcing Nefarid to retreat and summon reinforcements in the form of Alderaan's native Killiks to overrun the lab.
